The way of life of the people of Minahasa Raya has been inspired by the Pancasila (pronounced Pancha-seela) philosophy. Pancasila is the official philosophy of the Indonesian state. In reality, however, long before it became official doctrine, Pancasila has existed independently in Minahasa in the following informal form:
